ELASTIN - COLLAGEN - HYALURONIC ACID. Trio for beautiful skin

Elastin (ECM matrix), which is abundant in ligaments, blood vessels and the dermis, where it strengthens the network formed by collagen fibres. Elastin particles wrap around collagen, giving the structure of elasticity it creates, thanks to which the skin retains its firmness and elasticity. The third important structural element of the skin is hyaluronic acid, which has the ability to bind water molecules.

The abundant presence of all three components in the skin makes it retain adequate hydration, elasticity and strength.

Unfortunately, as we age, the synthesis of elastin, as well as collagen and hyaluronic acid in the body decreases. In addition, these ingredients are degraded in the skin under the influence of unfavourable factors such as UV radiation or free radicals. This leads to its sagging and the formation of wrinkles.

Traditional Elastin vs Elastin F

Traditionally elastin is obtained from the bovine ligament, which may be of concern for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) disease. This problem prompted scientists to look for a safe, alternative source of elastin peptide for nutraceutical and cosmetic purposes.

ELASTIN F. A new generation elastin.

Elastin F is the highest quality, natural elastin peptide, obtained from Bonito Tuna. Elastin F comes from the arterial bulb (Bulbus arteriosus) of the fish, which is rich in elastin fibres.

The use of enzymatic biotransformation technology during the isolation and hydrolysis process makes the resulting elastin F have an extremely low molecular weight (below 1000 Da) and are resistant to the acidic environment. This clearly distinguishes them from other types of elastin, which are commonly obtained from fish skin and bovine ligaments, and are characterized by much higher molecular weights and lower digestibility.

Due to the low molecular weight and the integrity of the cross-linked amino acids (desmosin and isodesmosin) , even under low pH conditions, elastin F are well soluble in water, so they can reach the skin unchanged. This makes them easily absorbed and incorporated directly into the skin structures.

To obtain the maximum effect, the Aliness® proSkin Complex has been enriched with coenzyme Q10 and active folate Quaterfolic® as well as ingredients that have an additional, positive effect on the condition of the skin, such as: Vitamin C - supporting collagen synthesis, Vitamin A and B Vitamins. - biotin, niacinamide and riboflavin - which help maintain healthy skin, and Vitamin E - which protects skin cells from oxidative damage.

Study 1: In a placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial, twenty 30-year-old Japanese women were administered an oral tablet containing 75 mg elastin F (test group) or an elastin-free tablet (placebo group) daily for 4 weeks. Compared to placebo, elastin F significantly improved skin elasticity and firmness. In addition, the blood flow through the skin of the face (cheeks) was assessed using a laser Doppler flow meter. People in the elastin group also showed less reduction in blood flow through the skin on their cheeks. No side effects were observed.

Based on the self-assessment questionnaire of the study, people in the elastin group experienced greater satisfaction with the condition of their skin compared to the placebo group.

Study 2: In a placebo-controlled, double-blind study, a group of Japanese women over 30 years of age were administered elastin F from the bulbar artery of bonito tuna together with collagen and hyaluronic acid (mucopolysaccharide) to test the effects of elastin F on human skin. The experimental period was 8 weeks. The placebo group was taking a supplement that did not contain elastin, but only collagen and hyaluronic acid. After 8 weeks, both groups showed improvements in the measures of texture and wrinkles related to skin tightness and smoothness, and the elastin F group had significantly higher values ​​than the placebo group, especially for skin texture. The results suggest that the skin-improving effects of collagen and mucopolysaccharides such as hyaluronic acid can be enhanced by combining their supplementation with bonito-derived elastin (elastin F).
