What is Ginkgo biloba?
Ginkgo biloba, or in other words Japanese ginkgo or biloba, is a tree with characteristic, fan-shaped leaves, belonging to the ginkgo family (Ginkgoaceae). The original origin of the plant is China, from where it spread to other parts of Asia - Korea and Japan, and eventually also gained popularity on other continents. Ginkgo leaves have a long history of use and have already been used in Chinese medicine, where they were consumed in the form of medicinal infusions.
Ginkgo biloba contains many valuable ingredients, such as rutin, quercetin, kaempferol or isorhamnetin included in the wider group flavone glycosides, as well as ginkgolides and bilobalide belonging to the group terpene lactones. Both groups of compounds are considered to be the main biologically active ingredients that give ginkgo biloba unique, health-promoting properties.
What characterizes our Ginkgo biloba extract?
CogniPlex® is the highest quality ginkgo biloba leaf extract produced in the process of water-alcohol extraction and standardized to 24% flavone glycosides and 6% terpene lactones. The use of only water and alcohol makes the extract free of residues of harmful solvents, and standardization guarantees a high content of active ingredients.
Each tablet contains 120 mg of extract from Ginkgo biloba that delivers 28.8 mg of glycosides flavones and 7.2 mg of terpene lactones.
