What is Shatavari?
Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus), or Indian asparagus, is a climber belonging to the asparagus family, which grows wild over vast areas of India. The word Shatavari comes from ancient Sanskrit and means literally "one with a hundred roots" or metaphorically "one with a hundred husbands", which refers to female fertility. It is not accidental, however, that the term also refers to the roots, which contain all the remarkable features of this plant. The health-promoting properties of Shatavari root were noticed and appreciated in India centuries ago, where it was used in ancient Indian Ayurvedic medicine as a herb supporting broadly understood female health - including matters related to reproduction and hormones.
How does Shatavari work?
Shatavari root extract provides many valuable phytonutrients that have a beneficial effect on the female body, such as saponins, plant sterols, alkaloids, flavonoids and isoflavones (phytoestrogens) are considered to be the main active ingredients for which Shatavari extracts are standardized Saponins.
What standardization and origin of the extract?
When planning Shatavari supplementation, it is worth paying attention to standardization, i.e. the power of the extract. Supplement manufacturers often use non-standardized extracts, based only on the DER value, or base their products not on the extract, but on dried, powdered plant material with a much lower content of active ingredients.
The extract contained in our product comes from India, which is the natural area of the plant's occurrence and is characterized by a high standardization for saponins, amounting to 30%. This means that each 100 mg of the extract contains 30 mg of saponins, which is the main active ingredient of Shatavari.

One capsule contains 500 mg of standardized Shatavari root extract (Asparagus racemosus), which corresponds to 150 mg of saponins (active substances).
