Many physiological processes of aerobic organisms produce free radicals (reactive oxygen species - ROS). Oxygen is gradually reduced also under the influence of external factors: the use of drugs, UV radiation, high temperature, smoking, processed food.
While the presence of reactive oxygen species is necessary in some intracellular processes, it disturbs the balance between the production of free radicals and their inactivation leads to a state of oxidative stress.
The human body has natural defense mechanisms against the negative effects of free radicals, one of them are cellular enzymes: superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), non-enzymatic free radical scavengers are also used, including: vitamins C and E
Aliness Superoxide dismutase contains both the enzyme superoxide dismutase (TetraSOD® as well as vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) in high doses.
Superoxide dismutase (SOD) - is the first and a key enzyme of the body's antioxidant barrier - it catalyses the dismutation of superoxide anion, transforming it into hydrogen peroxide, which in turn is reduced to neutral products (water and oxygen) with the participation of catalase and glutathione peroxidase:
Although SOD occurs naturally in the body, its levels decreases with age, which reduces the ability to defend against the harmful effects of free radicals.
TetraSOD superoxide dismutase® comes from a natural source - dried sea algae Tetraselmis chuii produced in a patented technology of closed bioreactors inducing the accumulation of bioactive compounds (SOD).
TetraSOD® is not an extract. This ingredient is made from single-celled microalgae. The freeze-dried cell becomes an ideal natural capsule for the active ingredients, preventing their oxidation or further degradation.
